On Wednesday, 23 September, from 18:00 to 21:00, the One Health Adventure Lab at the Estonian University of Life Sciences’ Zoomeedikum will welcome science enthusiasts of all ages. Featuring seven activity stations, the workshop uses playful challenges and experiments to demonstrate how human, animal and environmental health are interconnected.
The Adventure Lab is guided by the theme “One Planet, One Health, One Future”. Visitors can move through the activity stations at their own pace and collect a stamp in their One Health Passport for each completed challenge.
One Health through experiments and challenges
Among other activities, participants can use microscopes to explore the invisible world of microbes and find out under UV light how effectively they wash their hands. In the outbreak detective challenge, they will trace the source of a disease transmitted from animals to humans, while the handshake experiment will reveal how easily pathogens can spread from one person to another.
Visitors can also take part in the antimicrobial resistance game “Beat the Superbug!”, identify food safety mistakes in a kitchen-themed challenge and explore why healthy animals are also important for human health. The activities also provide an opportunity to examine anatomical models, parasite specimens and personal protective equipment used in veterinary medicine.

Visitors can join the One Health Adventure Lab activities on 23 September from 18:00 to 21:00 at the Estonian University of Life Sciences’ Zoomeedikum, F. R. Kreutzwaldi 62. Advance registration is not required.
Researchers at the Estonian University of Life Sciences will open their doors to visitors on 23 and 24 September.
